Our Story

Kosala livelihood and social foundation is a not-for-profit social enterprise, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries of the Aditya Birla Group. Kosala is committed to empowering the Kosa silk weavers of Chhattisgarh. Our vision extends beyond preserving an ancient craft—we seek to elevate it as a source of sustainable livelihood, individual identity for artisans, and a recognition of them as co-creators and equal stakeholders in continuing their cultural legacy.

At the heart of Kosala lies a deep reverence for the rich heritage that birthed Kosa silk. Our mission intertwines cultural preservation with sustainability, ensuring that this traditional art form is celebrated, not diluted. We honour the indigenous techniques perfected over generations, ensuring Kosa silk remains timeless, desired, and treasured across generations, while fostering conscious, responsible production that respects both tradition and the environment.

We are transforming the Kosa silk value chain by seamlessly blending the heritage craft with contemporary design while building a holistic ecosystem that empowers every stakeholder involved in the making of Kosa silk to continue their cultural legacy in a dignified, sustainable manner.

Kosa silk is more than just fabric; it is a narrative of Chhattisgarh’s vibrant heritage.  At Kosala, we are committed to ensuring that this narrative continues to unfold, reaching the discerning customer who values not just luxury, but the true essence of craftsmanship.
